Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the utilization of chicken eggshells and cogon grass as raw materials for bio-briquettes as a renewable fuel source. An experimental method was employed using three composition variations: SPL-01 (50% eggshells: 20% cogon grass), SPL-02 (50%: 30%), and SPL-03 (40% : 40%), with 5% adhesive added to each mixture, and 15% water. The tests included calorific value, proximate analysis (moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon), combustion characteristics, and burning rate. The results showed that the raw material composition significantly affected the quality of the bio-briquettes. Sample SPL-03 exhibited the best performance, with a calorific value of 7,254.89 cal/g, moisture content of 12.38%, ash content of 4.19%, volatile matter of 14.22%, fixed carbon of 69.21%, and the best combustion characteristics among all samples. Therefore, the composition containing 40% chicken eggshells and 40% cogon grass has strong potential as an efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable biomass fuel.
