Abstract

ABSTRAK Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses quenching beserta waktu tahan terhadap kekerasan dan struktur mikro pada baja AISI 1045 dengan menggunakan media pendingin berbeda. Media yang digunakan berupa oli,minyak goreng, dan air. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2021 di Lab Teknik Mesin Universitas Tridinanti Palembang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan setelah baja dilakukan pemanasan di suhu 817°C lalu di quenching diperolah bahwa baja yang memiliki nilai kekerasan tertinggi yaitu baja yang menggunakan air sebesar 41,8 HRC dan diikuti dengan minyak goreng sebesar 20,7 HRC dan yang paling kecil dengan oli sebesar 18,6 HRC. Dan struktur yang terbentuk martensit dan perlit. Kata Kunci : Quenching,Baja Karbon 1045,Perlakuan Panas.   ABSTRACT This type of research is an experimental study that aims to determine the quenching process along with the resistance time to hardness and microstructure of AISI 1045 steel using different cooling media. The media used are oil, cooking oil, and water. The research was conducted in August 2021 at the Mechanical Engineering Lab, Tridinanti University, Palembang. The results obtained after the steel was heated at a temperature of 817°C and then quenched it was obtained that the steel with the highest hardness value was steel that used water of 41.8 HRC and followed by cooking oil of 20.7 HRC and the smallest with oil of 18,6 HRC. And the structure formed is martensite and pearlite. Keywords : Quenching, Carbon Steel 1045,Heat Trearment
