Abstract

ABSTRAK Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses perlakuan panas hardening beserta waktu tahan terhadap kekerasan pada baja AISI 1050 dengan menggunakan variasi media pendingin, Media yang digunakan berupa minyak bimoli, air keran, air laut. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan maret 2022 di Lab Teknik Mesin Universitas Tridinanti Palembang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan setelah baja dilakukan pemanasan di temperatur 779°C dengan waktu tahan 10 menit lalu di quenching diperoleh bahwa baja yang memiliki nilai kekerasan tertinggi yaitu baja yang menggunakan media air laut dengan nilai rata-rata 94,8 HRB dan diikuti dengan media pendingin air tawar nilai rata-rata 94 HRB dan yang paling rendah menggunakan media pendingin minyak sayur dengan nilai rata-rata 92,2 HRB. Semakin cepat pendinginan semakin banyak martensit yang terbentuk. Sehingga kekerasanya lebih tinggi. Kata kunci : Perlakuan Panas Hardening, Baja Karbon AISI 1050, Quenching ABSTRACT This type of research is an experimental study that aims to determine the process of hardening heat treatment along with hardness resistance time in AISI 1050 steel using a variety of cooling media, media used in the form of vegetable oil, fresh water, seawater. The research was conducted in March 2022 at the Mechanical Engineering Lab of Tridinanti University palembang. The results of the study obtained after the steel was warmed at a temperature of 779 °C with a resistance time of 10 minutes and then in quenching it was obtained that the steel that has the highest hardness value is steel that uses seawater media with an average value of 94.8 HRB and followed by freshwater cooling media with an average value of 94 HRB and the lowest using vegetable oil cooling media with an average value of 92.2 HRB. The faster the cooling the more martensites are formed. So that the violence is higher. Kata kunci : Perlakuan Panas Hardening, Baja Karbon AISI 1050, Quenching
