Abstract

ABSTRAK Baja AISI 1045 merupakan baja karbon menengah pada umumnya baja jenis ini digunakan untuk memproduksi komponen mesin seperti, poros, roda gigi, dan lainnya. Karena kandungan karbon yang tidak terlalu tinggi dan terlalu rendah baja jenis ini mudah dikerjakan dengan berbagai peralatan pemesinan maupun perkakas dan dibentuk sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Martempering juga dikenal sebagai pendinginan bertahap atau pendinginan terputus. Dalam proses ini, baja memanaskan di atas titik kritis atas (di atas rentang transformasi) serta kemudian didinginkan dalam rendaman garam, minyak, atau timbale yang disimpan pada suhu 150-300oC. Benda kerja ditahan pada suhu ini di atas titik awal martensit (Ms) sampai suhu menjadi seragam di seluruh penampang benda kerja. Setelah itu diamkan di udara atau suhu kamar. Tempering ialah memanaskan kembali baja yang sudah dikeraskan untuk menghilangkan tegangan proses serta mengurangi kekerasan. Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan dari proses tanpa perlakuan didapatkan kekerasan 88 HRB, Kemudian dilanjutkan proses mamtempering dengan waktu 30 detik tanpa berkelanjutan tempering didapatkan kekerannya 97 HRB. Lalu proses martempering dilanjutkan tempering didapatkan kekerasannya 87,3 HRB, dan proses martempering terus dilanjutkan tempering dengan waktu tahan 20 dan 30 detik didapatkan kekerasannya 89,9 dan 90,9 HRB Kata Kunci : Baja AISI 1045, Proses Martempering, Tempering. ABSTRACT AISI 1045 steel is a medium carbon steel in general this type of steel is used to produce engine components such as shafts, gears, and others. Because the carbon content is not too high and too low this type of steel is easy to do with various machining equipment and tools and is formed according to needs. Martempering is also known as gradual cooling or disconnected cooling. In this process, the steel heats above the upper critical point (above the transformation range) and then cools in a salt, oil, or timbale bath stored at a temperature of 150-300oC. The workpiece is held at this temperature above the starting point of the martensite (Ms) until the temperature becomes uniform throughout the cross-section of the workpiece. After that let stand in the air or room temperature. Tempering is reheating hardened steel to remove process stress and reduce hardness. The results of the study obtained from the process without treatment obtained violence 88 HRB, then continued the process of mamtempering with a time of 30 seconds without sustained tempering obtained turbidity 97 HRB. Then the martempering process continued tempering obtained a hardness of 87.3 HRB, and the martempering process continued tempering with a resistance time of 20 and 30 seconds obtained hardness 89.9 and 90.9 HRB.
