Abstract

ABSTRAK Perkembangan global industri logam semakin pesat, hal ini terbukti menggunakan adanya penggunaan logam baik menjadi bahan dasar primer pada pembuatan infrastruktur industri itu sendiri juga dalam bidang konstruksi. Setiap industri tentunya wajib memiliki kelebihan dibanding industri lainnya tentunya pada bidang mutu kualitas produknya. Setiap produk industri umumnya sebelum dipasarkan wajib melalui banyak sekali pengujian. Pengujian ini bertujuan buat mengetahui kekuatan logam output produksinya yang tentunya akan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas output produksinya. Salah satu contoh logam yang dapat kita gunakan sebagai pengujian yaitu baja AISI 1045, yang dimana dilakukan proses perlakuan panas autempering untuk meningkatkan ketangguhan dan kekerasan. Proses Austemper sendiri yaitu memanaskan spesimen pada temperatur austenit 800oC ditahan selama 10 menit kemudian di celup kedalam garam cair (Salth Bath) bertempatur 350oC selama 10, 20 dan 30 menit dan dilanjutkan pendinginan di udara. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan hasil bahwa untuk spesimen tanpa perlakuan mendapatkan nilai kekerasan sebesar 94,8 HRB kemudian dilakukan penahanan waktu paling lama 30 menit menghasilkan kekerassan 95,8 HRB, dan waktu tahan 20 menit menghasilkan kekerasan 96,9 HRB, dan pada waktu tahan 10 menit menghasilkan nilai kekerasan 97,3 HRB. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses austempering semakin lama waktu penahanan maka semakin turun tingkat kekerasan. Kata Kunci : Austempering, Baja AISI 1045, Salt Bath ABSTRACT The global development of the metal industry is growing rapidly, this is proven by the use of metal both as a primary base material for the manufacture of industrial infrastructure itself as well as in the construction sector. Every industry must have advantages over other industries, of course, in terms of product quality. Every industrial product is generally required to go through various tests before being marketed. This test aims to determine the strength of the metal production output which will certainly affect the quality of its production output. One example of a metal that we can use as a test is AISI 1045 steel, where an autempering heat treatment process is carried out to increase toughness and hardness. The Austemper process itself is heating the specimen at a temperature of 800oC austenite held for 10 minutes then immersed in molten salt (Salth Bath) at 350oC for 10, 20 and 30 minutes and continued cooling in air. From this study, it was found that for untreated specimens, a hardness value of 94.8 HRB was carried out, then a maximum holding time of 30 minutes resulted in a hardness of 95.8 HRB, and a holding time of 20 minutes resulted in a hardness of 96.9 HRB, and a holding time of 10 minutes. minutes produces a hardness value of 97.3 HRB. Thus it can be concluded that the austempering process the longer the holding time, the lower the level of hardness. Keywords: Austempering, AISI 1045 Steel, Salt Bath
