Abstract

ABSTRAK Baja yang mengalami perlakuan panas suhu 8300C di tahan sampai 15 menit, maka ketahanan korosinya akan menurun. Korosi merupakan gejala alamiah yang tidak dapat dihindari, namun dapat dikendalikan. Dalam penelitian ini, benda uji yang digunakan adalah baja AISI 1020 setara dengan baja karbon rendah yang mendapatkan perlakuan panas pada suhu 8300C ditahan selama 15 menit dan dilanjutkan dengan pendinginan cepat didalam air es dan oli. Pengujian korosi dilakukan dengan cara merendamkan benda uji didalam air laut, selama 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5 hari. Dari pengujian tersebut diperoleh bahwa laju korosi pada benda uji yang mendapat perlakuan panas pada suhu 8300C ditahan selama 15 menit lalu di dinginkan cepat di dalam air es sebesar 0,091070mm/yr, sedangkan pada benda uji yang mendapat perlakuan yang sama namun pada pendinginan dengan oli sebesar 0,088090mm/yr. Sementara baja karbon rendah benda uji asal sebesar 0,086612mm/yr. Jenis korosi pada masing-masing benda uji adalah korosi merata. Kata Kunci : Variasi Pendinginan, AISI 1020, Korosi Merata ABSTRAK Steel that undergoes heat treatment at 8300C temperature is held for up to 15 minutes, then its corrosion resistance will decrease. Corrosion is a natural symptom that cannot be avoided, but can be controlled. In this study, the specimen used was AISI 1020 steel equivalent to low carbon steel which received heat treatment at a temperature of 8300C held for 15 minutes and continued with rapid cooling in ice water and oil. Corrosion testing is carried out by immersing the specimen in seawater, for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days. From the test, it was found that the corrosion rate on test specimens that received heat treatment at a temperature of 8300C was held for 15 minutes and then cooled quickly in ice water by 0.091070mm / yr, while on test specimens that received the same treatment but on cooling with oil was 0.088090mm / yr. While the original specimen low carbon steel is 0.086612mm/yr. The type of corrosion on each test specimen is evenly corroded. Keywords : Cooling Variation, AISI 1020, Corrosion Evenly
