Abstract

Alat pengupas bawang merah adalah sebuah alat untuk membantu dalam proses pengupasan bawang merah dalam jumlah banyak yang mengunakan tenaga motor listrik sebagai alat penggeraknya. Dalam metode yang digunakan adalah dengan cara merotasikan bawang merah dengan jumlah banyak yang dipermukaan atas plat berlubang dengan kecepatan sudut tertentu. Saat berotasi atau berputar pada bagian bawang merah akan membenturkan ke sebuah karet pengupas bawang merah yang telah disusun dan disebuah plat, sehingga proses pengupasan terjadi saat bawang tergores dengan karet-karet pengupas tersebut. Karet tersebut berfungsi sebagai pembantu dalam pengupasan kulit bawang merah. Tujuan dari perancangan dan pembuatan alat pengupas kulit bawang merah untuk mempercepat dan mempermudah dalam pengupasan kulit bawang merah serta menghasilkan kupasan kulit bawang merah yang baik Dari hasil pengujian sebanyak 18 kali dengan perbandingan antara tidak direndam air dan direndam air selama 30 menit sebelum proses pengupasan dengan kecepatan putaran 100 rpm, 200 rpm, 350 rpm yang diuji sebanyak 3 kali pada setiap kecepatan dan kapasitas 2 kg selama 1 menit, maka dapat disimpulkan pengupasan dengan dengan cara direndam dengan air terlebih dahulu selama 30 menit dengan hasil yang terbaik dikarenakan kulit luar bawang menjadi lembek dan mudah terkelupas, mempercepat proses pengupasan. Kata kunci : Bawang Merah, baut karet, kecepatan. ABSTRACT The shallot peeler is a tool to assist in the process of peeling shallots in large quantities using an electric motor as its driving force. The method used is by rotating the red onion in large quantities on the surface of the perforated plate with a certain angular speed. When it rotates or rotates, the shallots will hit a rubber peeler that has been arranged on a plate, so that the stripping process occurs when the onion is rubbed with the rubber strips. The rubber functions as an assistant in peeling the shallot skin. The purpose of designing and manufacturing shallot skin peelers is to speed up and simplify the peeling of shallot skins and to produce good shallot skin peeling. From the results of the test 18 times with a comparison between not being soaked in water and soaked in water for 30 minutes before the stripping process with a rotational speed of 100 rpm, 200 rpm, 350 rpm tested 3 times at each speed and a capacity of 2 kg for 1 minute, it can be It was concluded that stripping by soaking in water for 30 minutes with the best results because the outer skin of the onion becomes soft and easily peels off, speeding up the peeling process.
