Abstract
ABSTRAK Penggunaan Baja Perkakas AISI D2 banyak di pakai dalam pembuatan DIES (Cetakan), karena memiliki ketahanan aus yang tinggi. Untuk memperoleh kekuatan dan kekerasan yang tinggi dilakukan perlakuan panas hardening. Pada penelitian ini bahan yang digunakan adalah baja perkakas D2 yang mendapat perlakuan panas hardening pada temperatur 850°C, lalu didinginkan dengan variasi pendingin Oli SAE 40, Air Radiator, Air Es dan Air Garam. Dari perlakuan tersebut di peroleh kekerasannya yang akan di bandingkan dengan kekerasan pada benda uji asal baja tanpa perlakuan panas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan tertinggi, di peroleh berturut-turut pada benda uji yang mendapat perlakuan panas yang didinginkan di dalam air Es sebesar (47,3 HRC), Kemudian pada benda uji yang didinginkan di dalam Oli SAE 40 sebesar (44,1 HRC), Sedangkan pada benda uji yang didinginkan pada Air Radiator dan Air Garam sebesar (45,9 HRC) dan (47 HRC). Sementara pada benda uji asal sebesar (21,5 HRC). Struktur mikro benda uji yang mendapat perlakuan panas hardening semuanya diperoleh Martensit dan Partikel karbida. Kata Kunci: Baja D2, Quenching Oli, Air Radiator, Air Es dan, Air Garam, Mekanik. ABSTRACT AISI D2 tool steel is widely used in making DIES (moulds), because it has high wear resistance. To obtain high strength and hardness, hardening heat treatment is carried out. In this research, the material used was D2 tool steel which received hardening heat treatment at a temperature of 850°C, then cooled with variations of SAE 40 oil, radiator water, ice water and salt water. From this treatment, the hardness can be obtained which will be compared with the hardness of steel specimens without heat treatment. The results of the research showed that the highest hardness was obtained successively on test objects that received heat treatment and were cooled in ice water at (47.3 HRC), then on test objects that were cooled in SAE 40 oil at (44.1 HRC), Meanwhile, the test objects cooled in Radiator Water and Salt Water were (45.9 HRC) and (47 HRC). Meanwhile, the original test object was (21.5 HRC). The microstructure of the test objects that received hardening heat treatment were all obtained by martensite and carbide particles.
