Abstract
ABSTRAK Di dalam dunia konstruksi saat ini pasti ditemui adanya sambungan las, Dengan adanya sambungan las maka ketahanan korosinya bermasalah. Pada penelitian ini baja yang digunakan adalah baja AISI 1020 yang dilakukan pengelasan karbit. Untuk persiapan pengujian korosi maka benda uji dibedakan menjadi 3 macam yaitu pertama dilas lalu diratakan permukaanya, kedua dilas tanpa diratakan permukaanya dan ketiga tanpa pengelasan. Selanjutnya pada benda-benda uji tersebut dikorosikan didalam larutan air laut selama 1 sampai 5 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju korosi yang terjadi pada hari kelima benda uji yang dilas karbit yang diratakan permukaannya yaitu sebesar 0,2114 mmpy lebih tinggi dari benda uji yang dilas karbit tanpa diratakan permukaanya yaitu sebesar 0,1834 mmpy. Sementara laju korosi pada benda uji tanpa pengelasan lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan benda uji yang dilas karbit yaitu sebesar 0,1748 mmpy. Jenis korosi yang terjadi pada masing- masing benda uji adalah korosi merata. ABSTRACT In steel construction, there are always welded joints. With this welded joint, corrosion resistance becomes problematic. in this study, the steel used was AISI 1020 steel which was welded with carbide. In preparation for corrosion testing, the test objects were divided into 3 types, namely the first was welded and then the surface was leveled, the second was welded without leveling the surface and the third without welding. Furthermore, the test objects were corroded in a seawater solution for 1 to 5 days. The results of the study showed that the corrosion rate that occurred on the fifth day of the test object welded with carbide and leveled the surface was 0.2114 mmpy higher than the test object welded with carbide without leveling the surface, which was 0.1834 mmpy. While the corrosion rate on the test object without welding was lower than the test object welded with carbide, which was 0.1748 mmpy. The type of corrosion that occurred in each test object was uniform corrosion.
