Abstract
The reliability of electrical power systems is an important factor in maintaining the continuity of public services, particularly in institutions that depend on information technology equipment. This study aims to analyze the Emergency Power System utilizingan Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) at the UPTB Samsat Musi Rawas II Office, evaluate the suitability of the existing UPS capacity, and determine the ideal UPS capacity required to support critical loads. The analysis was conducted by calculating the total critical load, UPS capacity, battery requirements, and backup time estimation based on measurement data. The determination of UPS capacity and system reliability refers to IEEE Std 446-2021 (Recommended Practice for Emergency and Standby Power Systems for Industrial and Commercial Applications) as a guideline for emergency power system planning and UPS capacity safety considerations.The results indicate that the total critical load that must be maintained during a power outage is 3,950 Watts. The existing UPS system is capable of providing a backup time of approximately 98.4 minutes or 1 hour and 38 minutes, which is sufficient to maintain temporary operations until the generator operates normally. However, the existing 3000 VA UPS is not capable of optimally supplying the total critical load demand. Based on the analysis, a minimum UPS capacity of 6 kVA is required, with a recommended capacity of 10 kVA to provide an adequate safety margin and accommodate future load expansion in accordance.
