Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether there was significant correlation or not between the ability of imperative sentence and writing skill of procedure text. The population was the ninth grade students with the total 67 students from 2 classes at SMP Azhariah Palembang. To the sample of this study, total sampling technique was implemented. There was 67 students as a sample. The data were selected from students imperative sentence score and their writing procedure text score. In analyzing the data, correlation analysis was used. Based on the statistical analysis, it was found that the correlation coefficient or the r-value (0.294) was lower than r-table (0.355). Then, the level of probability (p) significance (sig.2-tailed) was 0.0000. It means that p-value (0.000) was lower than 0.05. It can be concluded that there was low correlation between the ability of imperative sentence and writing skill of procedure text. Keywords: correlation, imperative sentence, writing procedure text.
