Abstract
This study aimed to find out the correlation between critical thinking disposition and writing skill, how much thinking styles contributed to the students’ writing achievement. This study used correlational research design. The sample was selected by using purposive sample technique, consisting of 86 students. The data were collected by administering critical thinking disposition questionnaire and writing skill test. The data obtained were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment and Regression significant correlation between critical thinking disposition and writing skill in recount text at the tenth grade students’ of SMAN 2 Palembang and it categorized as weak correlation. Moreover, critical thinking disposition contributed as much 0.9%. This means that the significant value of the correlation was included in the weak category. In addition, the significant coefficient was 0.170 higher than alpha value 0.05 there was significant correlation. The Pearson Correlation of students’ critical thinking disposition and writing skill was 0.149 indicates in weak category correlation. It means the correlation coefficient was found to be significant. It also implies there was any significant correlation between critical thinking disposition and their writing skill. The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, as determined by the writer.
