Abstract

3-Phase Induction Motor is a conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy consisting of a stator and rotor. The work efficiency of an induction motor is the ratio of the electrical energy used by the induction motor and then converted into mechanical energy and the minimum power loss in the induction motor than all the energy used. On June 6, 2024 at Palembang Indah Mall, there was voltage instability after a total blackout from PLN in South Sumatra, which affected the performance of the induction motor used to drive the fan in the cooling tower, due to the instability of the voltage received by the induction motor, resulting in a decrease in terms of torque and efficiency of the induction motor. In this study, it is known that the large eff value for a voltage of 375 V is 0.86; for efficiency at a voltage of 400 V is 0.81; and for efficiency at a voltage of 415 V is 0.77. From this statement we can conclude that the greater the voltage, the lower the efficiency of the 3-phase induction motor. Normal voltage is needed to maintain the efficiency of the 3-phase induction motor so that it is always in good condition.
