Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to design and evaluate a modular laboratory apparatus for a refrigeration system, particularly a pendingin evaporator plat module, that is safe, ergonomic, and easy to expand to support laboratory practical activities. The research method includes the design of the frame and modules, fabrication of the apparatus, and performance testing of the pendingin evaporator plat module using R134a refrigerant. The observed parameters include evaporator and condenser temperatures, cooling capacity, and the coefficient of performance (COP) measured at 5-minute intervals over a total testing time of 50 minutes. The results show that the pendingin evaporator plat module is able to absorb heat effectively, with a cooling capacity ranging from 126 W to 722.4 W and a cooling COP between 0.82 and 4.69. Although performance fluctuations occur during the cooling process, the system operates stably and responds well to changes in testing conditions. Therefore, the developed modular pendingin evaporator plat apparatus is considered suitable as a laboratory learning media to help students directly understand the characteristics and performance of refrigeration systems.
