Abstract
ABSTRACT Transformers are vital components in power distribution systems whose performance is significantly influenced by service life and loading variations. This study aims to analyze the effect of load variations on efficiency, examine voltage regulation to ensure supply stability, and evaluate performance deterioration due to aging factors on a 3 kVA 480/380 V step-down transformer supplying the Overhead Crane (OHC) system at PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Field Adera. The research method involved analyzing measurement data across five loading levels: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.The results show that transformer efficiency increases with the load, reaching its peak at 81.4% at full load. Although this result meets IEEE standards, there is a 7% - 10% decrease in efficiency compared to the original 2014 design conditions, indicating degradation of the insulation material and core. Power loss analysis shows constant core loss (Pcore) of 0.5 kW, while copper loss (Pcu) increases quadratically up to 0.00325 kW, with total power losses swelling due to age factors. In terms of stability, the maximum voltage regulation (VR) of 2.67% remains below the SPLN 50:1997 tolerance limit of 5%, confirming high system stability. It is concluded that while the transformer remains technically feasible for OHC operations, significant technical aging has occurred, necessitating unit replacement planning or intensive preventive maintenance. Keywords : Step-Down Transformer, Efficiency, Voltage Regulation, Power Losses, Overhead Crane.
