Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of interpersonal communication and Teamwork on employee performance, both directly and indirectly through work motivation as a mediating variable at the Sungai Rotan Sub-District Office. The approach used in this research is quantitative, with data collection techniques carried out by distributing questionnaires to all 45 employees within the Sungai Rotan Sub-District Office. The data analysis method applied is Variance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using the Smart-PLS analysis tool. The results show that interpersonal communication does not have a significant effect on work motivation, whereas Teamwork has a positive and significant effect on work motivation. Interpersonal communication is proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while Teamwork does not have a significant direct effect on employee performance. On the other hand, work motivation is proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, testing the indirect effects reveals that interpersonal communication on employee performance through work motivation is not significant. Similarly, the indirect effect of Teamwork on employee performance through work motivation is also insignificant. Based on these overall findings, it can be concluded that work motivation has not been proven effective as a mediating variable in bridging the influence of interpersonal communication or Teamwork on employee performance at the Sungai Rotan Sub-District Office. Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Teamwork, Work Motivation, Employee Performance
