Abstract
ABSTRAK Perkerasan lentur merupakan perkerasan yang paling diminati pada struktur perkerasan jalan raya. Daya dukung yang besar mampu menerima beban lalu lintas kendaraan ditambah biaya kontruksi yang lebih ekonomis merupakan kelebihan dari perkerasan lentur dibandingkan dengan perkerasan lainnya. Penggunaan plastik di dunia terus meningkat, termasuk di Indonesia. Hal ini menyebabkan peningkatan volume sampah plastik dari tahun ke tahun. Penggunaan plastik dalam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari menyebabkan permasalahan baru karena plastik sulit terurai. Agar plastik dapat terurai dibutuhkan waktu yang sangat lama. Limbah botol plastik ini sangat banyak dan terus meningkat tiap tahunnya seiring bertambahnya jumlah penduduk. Semakin banyaknya limbah botol plastik jenis PET (polyethylene terephthalate) membuka peluang untuk dimanfaatkan di bidang kontruksi jalan raya agar dapat mengurangi jumlah dari limbah botol plastik tersebut, peneliti bermaksud untuk menambahkan cacahan botol plastik PET (polyethylene terephthalate) kedalam campuran laston AC-WC. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tahapan dalam pembutan benda uji, tahap pertama pembuatan benda uji normal dengan kadar aspal 5%, 5,5%, 6%, 6,5% dan 7%, tahap selanjutnya dilakukan penambahan cacahan botol plastik PET (polyethylene terephthalate) dengan kadar 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, dan 4% sebagai bahan tambah terhadap berat keseluruhan total, namun dalam proses pencampuran dengan aspal dan agregat menggunakan proses kering (dry mix). Pengujian karakteristik marshall digunakan untuk menentukan kadar aspal optimum AC-WC yang terdiri dari stabilitas, flow, Marshall quotient, VIM, VMA, dan VFA. Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan, bahwa nilai kadar optimum pada laston AC-WC kovensional terdapat pada kadar 6,1% sedangkan nilai kadar optimum pada laston AC-WC + Cacahan botol plastik PET (polyethylene terephthalate) terdapat pada kadar 0,5%. Kata Kunci : Aspal, Laston AC-WC, Plastik PET(polyethylene terephthalate), Marshall Test ABSTRACT Flexible pavement is the most desirable pavement in highway pavement structures. The large carrying capacity capable of accepting vehicle traffic loads plus more economical construction costs are the advantages of flexible pavement compared to other pavements. The use of plastic in the world continues to increase, including in Indonesia. This causes an increase in the volume of plastic waste from year to year. The use of plastic in everyday life causes new problems because plastic is difficult to decompose. It takes a very long time for plastic to decompose. This plastic bottle waste is very much and continues to increase every year as the population increases.The increasing number of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottle waste opens up opportunities to be used in the field of highway construction in order to reduce the amount of plastic bottle waste, the researchers intend to add shredded PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles into the AC-WC mixture. This research has two stages in the manufacture of test specimens, the first stage is making normal specimens with asphalt content of 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5% and 7%, the next stage is the addition of crushed PET plastic bottles (polyethylene terephthalate). with levels of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% as added material to the total weight, but in the process of mixing with asphalt and aggregate using a dry process (dry mix). Marshall characteristic test is used to determine the optimum asphalt content of AC-WC which consists of stability, flow, Marshall quotient, VIM, VMA, and VFA. From the results of the tests carried out, that the optimum value of the conventional AC-WC laston is at a level of 6.1% while the optimum value of the AC-WC + crushed PET plastic bottle (polyethylene terephthalate) is at a level of 0.5%.
