Abstract
ABSTRAK Tempering adalah salah satu proses lanjutan dari perlakuan panas dimana baja yang sudah dikeraskan dipanaskan kembali pada temperatur tertentu dan ditahan selama waktu tertentu untuk menghilangkan atau mengurangi tegangan sisa dan mengembalikan sebagian keuletan dan ketangguhannya. Kembalinya sebagian keuletan atau ketangguhan ini di dapat dengan mengurangi sebagian kekuatan dan kekerasan yang telah dicapai pada proses hardening. Hasil proses hardening ini ditempering pada kisaran temperatur 225°C, 400°C, dan 575°C. Data pengujian kekerasan menunjukan semakin tinggi temperatur tempering kekerasan semakin turun. Gambar struktur mikro menunjukan adanya perubahan struktur. Semakin tinggi temperature tempering martensit semakin berkurang dan Perlit bertambah tetapi struktur martensit tetap ada walau sedikit, sehingga kita dapat menentukan pada batas mana temperature tempering yang diinginkan sesuai kebutuhan tetapi keuletannya juga cukup tinggi. Kata Kunci : Tempering ,Hardening,Baja AISI 1045,Struktur Mikro ABSTRACT Tempering is one of the advanced processes of heat treatment in which hardened steel is reheated at a certain temperature and held for a certain time to eliminate or reduce residual stresses and restore some of its ductility and toughness. This partial return of ductility or toughness is obtained by reducing some of the strength and hardness that has been achieved in the hardening process. The results of this hardening process are tempered at a temperature range of 225°C, 400°C, and 575°C. Hardness test data shows that the higher the tempering temperature, the lower the hardness. The microstructure image shows a change in the structure. The higher the tempering temperature of martensit decreases and pearlite increases but the martensit structure remains even a little, so that we can determine at which limits the desired tempering temperature is needed but the ductility is also quite high.
