Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui eufemisme dalam rubrik kriminal surat kabar Sumatera Ekspres edisi Desember 2022 berupa bentuk-bentuk eufemisme yaitu, bentuk singkatan, bentuk kata serapan, bentuk istilah asing, bentuk metafora, dan bentuk perifrasis dan fungsi-fungsi eufemisme dari bentuk tersebut. Selanjutnya, jenis penelitian ini ialah jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode simak dan teknik catat. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu surat kabar Sumatera Ekspres rubrik kriminal edisi Desember 2022. Rubrik kriminal ini memiliki 5–6 berita dalam satu hari. Total berita selama satu bulan sebanyak 145 berita. Hasil dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bentuk eufemisme sebanyak 848 data. Bentuk eufemisme yang ditemukan meliputi bentuk singkatan 526 data, bentuk kata serapan 26 data, bentuk istilah asing 86 data, bentuk metafora 20 data, bentuk perifrasis 190 data dan implikasinya terhadap pembelajran bahasa indonesia, sebagai referensi bahasa untuk mengungkapkan gagasan dengan menggunakan bahasa yang lebih halus dan sopan, serta siswa SMP dalam materi teks berita. Kata Kunci: eufemisme, berita, surat kabar. This research aims to find out the euphemism in the criminal rubric of Sumatera Ekspres newspaper in December 2022 edition in the form of euphemism forms, namely, abbreviation forms, absorption word forms, foreign term forms, metaphor forms, and periphrasis forms and euphemism functions of these forms. Furthermore, this type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The methods used in this research are listening method and note-taking technique. The data source in this research is the Sumatra Ekspres newspaper in the criminal section of the December 2022 edition. This criminal rubric has 5-6 news in one day. The total news for one month was 145 news. The results in this study found a form of euphemism as much as 848 data. The forms of euphemism found include the form of abbreviations 526 data, the form of absorption words 26 data, the form of foreign terms 86 data, the form of metaphors 20 data, the form of periphrasis 190 data and its implications for Indonesian language learning, as a language reference to express ideas by using smoother and polite language, as well as junior high school students in news text material.
