Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan daya baca dengan kemampuan menulis isi teks berita kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Palembang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode korelasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 10 kelas, dengan jumlah siswa 326. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 33 siswa yang terdiri dari 15 laki-laki dan 18 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik tes. Tes yang dilakukan peneliti terdiri dari 2 tahap. Tes daya baca dan tes kemampuan menulis isi teks berita. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, berdasarkan hasil pengujian statistik diperoleh nilai sig. (2- tailed) antara daya baca dengan kemampuan menulis isi teks berita adalah sebesar 0,032<0,05, yang berarti terdapat hubungan antara variabel daya baca dengan kemampuan menulis isi teks berita. Adapun untuk mengetahui kekuatan hubungan antara variabel bebas dan variabel terikat dapat dilihat pada nilai sebesar 0,374 yang menunjukkan bahwa pada kedua variabel tersebut mempunyai hubungan yang rendah. Pengujian korelasi product moment yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan adanya hubungan daya baca dengan kemampuan menulis isi teks berita siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3. Hubungan kedua variabel tersebut mempunyai hubungan yang rendah. Kata Kunci: daya baca, menulis isi teks berita ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the relationship between reading power and the ability to write the content of news texts in class VII SMP Negeri 3 Palembang. This type of research is quantitative research using the correlation method. The population in this study consisted of 10 classes, with a total of 326 students. The sample in this study were 33 students consisting of 15 male and 18 female students. The data collection technique in this study used a test technique. The test carried out consists of 3 stages. The first stage measures reading speed, the second stage reading comprehension, and the third stage the ability to write the content of news texts. The results of this study show that, based on the results of statistical testing obtained sig. (2-tailed) between reading power and the ability to write news text content is 0.032 <0.05, which means there is a relationship between the variable of reading power and the ability to write news text content. As for knowing the strength of the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable can be seen in the calculated of 0.374 which indicates that the two variables have a low relationship. Testing the product moment correlation contained in this research, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between reading ability and the ability to write news text content for class VII students at SMP Negeri 3.
